For those who enjoy combining relaxation and outdoor activities, Casa Olivo is the ideal starting point for an active holiday in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma. The surrounding area offers numerous hiking trails and gravel routes through hills, olive groves, and medieval villages. Horseback riding enthusiasts can enjoy exciting horseback excursions at the nearby "Le Ginestre" riding stable.
Walking tours
In the heart of the Maremma Grossetana, just outside Campagnatico, there are eight hiking trails perfect for immersing yourself in the local nature: from easy loops, such as the one that enters the Roselle Archaeological Area starting from Bagno Roselle, or the evocative "Roman Bridge - World War I Memorial" from Montorgiali, to more challenging but well-marked intermediate trails, such as the panoramic route from Sticciano Scalo or the one connecting Paganico with hilly landscapes. Lengths range from about 3km to almost 10km, with elevation gains ranging from 70 to 240m, making these treks ideal for a day in the outdoors. All trails, carefully selected using data from thousands of Komoot users, guarantee good accessibility and ease of use, even for beginners, offering a balanced mix of physical activity and scenic beauty.
Gravel or racing bike rides
Gravel adventures abound in the Campagnatico area: you can ride picturesque medium-length loops (between 40 and 70 km) that wind through villages like Paganico, Istia d’Ombrone, Scansano, and Magliano in Toscana. In general, there are multiple itineraries of different types—road, mountain bike, and gravel—guaranteeing valid routes that are well-loved by users. The perfect mix of dirt roads, ups and downs, and medieval villages, ideal for experiencing the authentic Maremma on your gravel bike.
For those who don't bring their own bike, it is possible to rent one through Hakuna Matata Outdoor, with delivery and collection directly at the farmhouse: a convenient solution that makes the experience even more enjoyable.
Horseback riding
Just 5 minutes away is the La Ginestra Equestrian Center, which organizes riding lessons for adults and children, as well as horseback rides in the heart of the Maremma and along the coast... are you ready for your Maremma vacation? The riding center has a pony club and boarding facilities; it also offers dressage training and show jumping lessons. For the little ones, there are days in the countryside spent with horses and donkeys (with or without riding lessons) with games and entertainment, under the guidance of the center's staff. Spa and relax
Near Campagnatico and Agriturismo Casa Olivo are some of the most relaxing spa experiences in the Maremma. Just a 15-minute drive away are the Terme di Petriolo, famous since Roman times for their natural pools surrounded by greenery – an immersion in sulphurous vapors and woodland landscapes, ideal after a day of gravel or trekking (15 minutes from Casa Olivo). Slightly further away, the renowned Terme di Saturnia, about 40 km away, offer natural hot water waterfalls both free at the mill waterfalls and in the spa with complete wellness packages. This mix of natural spas and large spas is ideal for combining nature, sports activities, and pure thermal relaxation.
